University College Foundation Sabah (UCSF) GREEN CARNIVAL 2016 - SAVE OUR SHARKS

Location : Pantai Tanjung Lipat, Likas, Sabah

On 16th January 2016, University College Sabah Foundation organised UCSF Green Carnival 2016 at Taman Awam Teluk Likas, Kota Kinabalu with the theme "Save our Sharks". It is the first in a series of events in UCSF Green Carnival which is dedicated to saving sharks through awareness, education and actions. This event would act as a platform to introduce this university to the public, and at the same time, highlight the green initiative and issues related to environment and conservation for educational purposes. The 20 feet shark replica created by UCSF artists using over 6000 recycled plastic bottles was the main highlight of the event. This creative artwork reflects the role of UCSF as an environmental advocate parallel to its status as a green university. In addition to the shark replica, the artists also painted Shark Wall Mural showcasing beautiful shark 3D painting. Other activities held during the event include beach cleaning, blood donation, batik painting, as well as competitions such as shark sand-sculpturing, volleyball and colouring competition for kids. UCSF is honored to have State Tourism, Culture and Environment Assistant Minister YB Datuk Pang Yuk Ming, officiating our event. We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to our sponsors and the public who came to our event. Thanks for coming everyone! :)
